Captors of Shalit affirm demands deny contacts with Dahlan

Sunday 14-January-2007

GAZA (PIC)– The three armed wings that are holding the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit have affirmed that they did not change their demands in return for his release and at the same time denied having any contacts with Fatah MP Mohammed Dahlan.

The three armed wings of the Hamas Movement popular resistance committees and Islam army said following a meeting last night that their demands for the release of Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails topped by women minors and sick internees did not change.

They also denied press reports that Dahlan who is a former head of the preventive security apparatus in the Strip had contacted a commander in the PRC armed wing to inquire about the whereabouts of the captured soldier.

The three armed wings affirmed that the question of exchanging Shalit for Palestinian prisoners was not tabled for bargaining adding that Israeli obstinacy was delaying the swap deal. They commended the Egyptian role in this regard saying that Cairo was still exerting efforts to end this issue.

Hamas accused Dahlan a few days ago of foiling the swap deal when it was at its final stages after vowing to Israel that he would find the whereabouts of the soldier and set him free without any price in return.
