The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories Muhammad Hussein warned on Wednesday of the escalated tunnel excavations by the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) under the Old City in occupied Jerusalem and its environs.
Hussein said in a press statement that these tunnels pose a threat to the lives of the Arab people of Jerusalem and their properties which infringes the international laws that prohibits harming civilians in occupied territories.
He held the IOA responsible for the consequences of these excavations calling on the international organizations to intervene to halt such activities before it is too late.
The Mufti also warned of imposing the holidays schedule applied in the Hebrew schools on the Palestinian schools in Jerusalem stressing that this policy aims to spread the Hebrew culture and distort the Palestinian educational curricula.
He also pointed to the Hebrew names given to Palestinian streets and squares in order to Judaize these places and obliterate anything that is Arab and Muslim in the holy city affirming that this policy will fail.
