Anonymous gunmen believed to be from the Palestinian resistance opened fire on Monday evening at a gathering of soldiers at Jalama crossing north of Jenin city and escaped the scene.
Israel’s Channel 10 said that none of the soldiers was injured in the shooting attack.
Eyewitnesses told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the armed men were aboard a car and opened fire at close range at the soldiers and then drove off.
They added that shortly after the attack they also heard sporadic gunshots somewhere around the crossing.
Afterwards the Israeli army intensified its presence in the area and dispatched a large number of its troops to block roads and carry out raids on nearby towns.
