West Bankers lay to rest seven martyrs

Thousands participated in the funeral processions of seven martyrs in the West Bank on Saturday after the Israeli occupation authorities handed them over to their families after months of holding them in morgues. Five of them were buried in al-Khalil one in Nablus and one in Jenin.

Hundreds gathered to say their final prayer for Mohanad and Amir al-Rajabi who they covered in green banners in al-Khalil city before their burial.

Sheikh Taysir al-Rajabi said “We have come from Jerusalem to mourn our relatives who died and we ask Allah to have mercy on them.”

“No one matches the Palestinians when it comes to greatness. We believe in our future and these martyrs have paved the way for our freedom” he added in a statement to the PIC reporter.

Mustafa Barghouti head of the Palestinian initiative party said “Our people sacrificed a lot in the Jerusalem Intifada and the people of al-Khalil had the lion’s share in the number of martyrs.”

“Because of these martyrs we have scored many victories including the Security Council’s decision of stopping settlements in Palestine” he added.

In the same context Palestinians in the village of Bani Na’im laid to rest Issa Tarayra in the village graveyard following a huge funeral.

In al-Arroub refugee camp Israeli occupation soldiers fired teargas canisters at the mourners while marching in the funeral of Mustafa Baradeah triggering clashes with the young men.

Khaled Akhalil was laid to rest in the town of Beit Ummar where the Israeli occupation forces attacked the funeral and fired rubber bullets gas canisters and sound bombs on the mourners.

Meanwhile hundreds participated in the funeral of Jihad al-Qaddoumi 48 in Beit Wazan village to the west of Nablus.

The Israeli forces handed over his body on Friday evening after a month of his death. People gathered in front of Rafidia hospital took his body and headed towards his parents’ home.

The town people prayed the final prayer and buried Qaddoumi amidst cheers glorifying his deed and affirming intent on pursuing along his path.

The funeral included a number of speeches in which the head of the village council Emad al-Wazani asked the Palestinian Authority chief to issue passports for the martyr’s sons who are living in Iraq to come home.

Qaddoumi was killed on November 22nd when the Israeli soldiers shot him dead under the pretext of a stabbing threat.

In Jenin meanwhile Palestinians mourned Mohammed Turkman where he was taken from the hospital down to Qabatiya town then the graveyard.

There were speeches praising what he did and describing it as heroic an opinion that was shared also by his father.
