The Palestinian Authority (PA) on Wednesday submitted a resolution at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) calling for an immediate end to the Israeli illegal settlement across the occupied Palestinian territories.
The resolution outlaws Israeli settlements built on Palestinian land occupied in 1967.
The proposed bid urges Israel to immediately cease all settlement activities across the occupied Palestinian territories including in East Jerusalem and to assume its legal duties is this regard.
It urged the UN member states to never provide Israel with assistance that might be exploited in favor of illegal settlement activity.
The resolution requires support from nine state-members in order to pass at UNSC on condition that none of the five veto-wielding permanent members—U.S. Russia U.K. France China—turn it down.
