The Palestinian imprisoned cancer patient Mutasam Raddad 33 started suffering a severe weakness in his immune system.

“I am still suffering from severe bleeding in my bowels and sharp pain in my bones” Raddad said in his letter to a local rights group.

He also pointed out that Israeli Prison Service (IPS) continues to block family visits to him due to security pretexts despite his difficult health problems.

Raddad is a 34-year-old young man from Saida village in Tulkarem and he has been serving a 20-year prison term since his detention on January 12 2006.

He suffers from bowel cancer that cause him to bleed constantly in addition to anemia. He became recently unable to move.

There are some 1000 sick Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons including 24 suffering from cancer according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Center for Studies. Rights groups have widely condemned Israel for its medical negligence of Palestinians in its prisons.

According to the Council for European Palestinian Relations (CEPR) poor conditions in Israeli prisons have led to health complications for a large number of Palestinian prisoners.
