Israeli police forbid ceremony to honor Muezzins Quran memorizers

Saturday 26-November-2016

The Israeli occupation police on Saturday banned a ceremony to honor memorizers of the Holy Quran and Muezzins in Occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli police quelled a ceremony staged by the al-Razi socio-cultural association in cooperation with the Commission of Sit-inners in Occupied Jerusalem.

Chairman of the association’s Board of Trustees Hatem Abdul Kader said the ban was slapped on claims of its connection to protests against the Adhan ban bid recently discussed in the Israeli Knesset.

“The ban testifies to the absurdity and helplessness of the Israeli decision-makers” said Abdul Kader stressing the cultural rather than politicized nature of the ceremony.

“The Israelis are trying to politicize all religious cultural social and economic activities in Occupied Jerusalem” said Abdul Kader.

He added that the move makes part of Israeli intents to suppress the right to the freedom of speech and worship in Occupied Jerusalem.

The ceremony was staged by al-Razi Association and the Commission of Muslim Sit-inners to pay tribute to Muslim youths who have learned Kuran by heart and have a stirring voice in reciting Adhan.
