Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) banned the travel of 17 Palestinian citizens via al-Karama crossing between the West Bank and Jordan during the past week said Palestinian security sources on Saturday.

Spokesman for the Jericho police department Iyad Daraghmeh said that the IOA prevented 17 Palestinians from leaving the West Bank under undisclosed security pretexts.

In an interview with Quds Press on Saturday Daraghmeh said that 35000 Palestinians were able to pass through al-Karama crossing the only outlet connecting the West Bank Palestinians with the outside world through Jordan in both directions during the same reported period.

Palestinian human rights groups believe that the travel ban falls in line with political pressure imposed by Israel on Palestinians and has nothing to do with any security issues.
