Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas met in Riyadh on Wednesday with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and discussed with him different issues of mutual interest.
According to Palestinian news outlets Abbas briefed the Saudi Monarch on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena and the contacts he had made recently with other heads of state to discuss the US recognition of Occupied Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
Abbas also valued the Saudi positions in support of the Palestinian people and their national cause.
The meeting was followed by a luncheon and prolonged talks between the two leaders and officials from both sides.
King Salman reassured the Palestinian leader that Saudi Arabia continues to support the right of Palestinians to an independent state with east Jerusalem as its capital according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
