Haneyya: Jerusalem indivisible city Muslims’ eternal capital

Wednesday 20-December-2017

“There is no such a thing as ‘east’ and ‘west’ Jerusalem; Jerusalem is an undivided Arab and Islamic city; It is Palestinians’ and Muslims’ eternal capital” Political Bureau Chairman of Hamas Ismail Haneyya said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a celebration to commemorate Qatar’s National Day in Hamad city south of the blockaded Gaza Strip Haneyya stressed that east and west Occupied Jerusalem are one and the same and that the Palestinians will never accept any attempt to partition their holy city.

“It is no wonder that the U.S. vetoed the Jerusalem resolution at the UN Security Council. This wasn’t an unexpected move for it goes deep into the heart of the U.S. biased standpoint and blind collaboration with the Israeli occupation.”

“No matter the results we strongly believe that such schemes (in reference to Trump’s ‘deal of the century’) have no future in Palestine” stated Haneyya.

Commenting on Qatar’s position on the Jerusalem affair the Hamas leader quoted the country’s Emir as stating: “Never ever shall we give up the Jerusalem cause for it determines the nation’s destiny.”

Haneyya also called for reviving the idea of the Jerusalem fund proposed by Qatar during an earlier Arab summit so as to support the ancient city and its holy sites.

At the same time the Hamas Chief appealed to the Gulf States to overcome internal rifts and adopt a unified position in favor of the Palestinian cause.

Haneyya paid tribute to Qatar for its pro-Palestine standpoint saying: “Qatar has stood by Gaza when nobody else did and its Emir Sheikh Hamad visited Gaza in an attempt to break the diplomatic siege. Qatar has rallied round our people in Gaza the West Bank Jerusalem in refugee camps and overseas.”

Haneyya vowed that his Movement will always show gratitude to all those who have lent a hand to the Palestinian people and stood up for their cause.
