30 Palestinians were injured in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Thursday in several areas of the West Bank Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
Violent confrontations broke out between Palestinian youths and the IOF in different parts of the West Bank Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip after thousands of citizens took part in central rallies expressing their anger over the announcement of US President Donald Trump of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The PIC reporter in al-Khalil said that violent clashes broke out in the Zawyia area in downtown al-Khalil where Palestinian youths threw stones and empty bottles at the Israeli occupation soldiers.
The PIC reporter explained that the clashes extended to the entrance to Beerseba Street and at the beginning of the King Faisal Street and the Wadi Tuffah Street.
The IOF soldiers deployed in the area fired live bullets rubber-coated-bullets and teargas canisters at the Palestinian stone throwers.
The national and Islamic parties in al-Khalil called on citizens via loudspeakers to participate in the marches in the city centers.
Since the early morning a general strike has completely paralyzed all aspects of life in the city of al-Khalil and shops have been closed and streets have been completely deserted and traffic schools government institutions and ministries have been shut down.
In the occupied city of Jerusalem dozens of Jerusalemites demonstrated at Bab al-Amoud to denounce the decision of Trump.
The demonstrators chanted slogans emphasizing the Muslim and Arab identity of Jerusalem and that it has nothing to do with the Jews.
The Israeli occupation police surrounded the demonstrators and tried to disperse them.
The national and Islamic parties announced a general strike in all West Bank cities on Thursday condemning and denouncing the US decision.
The national and Islamic forces in Jerusalem declared a general and comprehensive strike in protest at Trump’s decision. A state of anger prevailed in the holy city of Jerusalem while young men and women of Jerusalem’s neighborhoods and towns took part in angry confrontations that began after the end of the Trump’s speech on Wednesday evening.
In Ramallah in the center of the West Bank clashes broke out in the village of Nabi Saleh to the north of the province. Palestinians threw stones and empty bottles at the Israeli occupation soldiers.
The Israeli soldiers fired rubber bullets and teargas canisters in an attempt to disperse angry youths protesting the US’s decision.
In the northern West Bank city of Nablus hundreds of citizens responded to the calls of national and Islamic forces and took part in a march of anger condemning the American position.
Shops public schools kindergartens and universities were closed as part of the city’s all-out strike.
Hundreds staged a protest of anger in the center of the city and chanted slogans against the American policies and demanded the activation of all forms of resistance against the Israeli occupation.
On the outskirts of the city according to eyewitnesses the occupation checkpoints saw the soldiers deployed in large numbers.
In the northern West Bank city of Jenin citizens rallied against the US administration’s decision asserting that Jerusalem would remain Arab and Islamic.
The citizens took to the streets of the city chanting slogans in support of al-Aqsa calling on the Palestinian resistance to respond to the decision and ignite the fronts and not to rely on the Arab positions to protect Jerusalem.
A part of the participants in the march proceeded to Nazareth Street and the Jalameh crossing where clashes began with the occupation forces that spread in the area.
In the northern West Bank city of Tulkarem 15 Palestinians were injured by teargas canisters and rubber-coated-bullets.
Local sources told the PIC reporter that the clashes followed a mass rally in the streets of the city condemning the American decision.
The local sources pointed out that the young men went to the western entrance of the city and began confrontations with the occupation forces which summoned reinforcements and began firing randomly at the protesters.
In the Gaza Strip three Palestinian youths were wounded by the Israeli occupation forces east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to local sources dozens of young men gathered to the east of Khan Younis and began throwing stones at the Israeli occupation forces that responded by firing bullets and teargas.
Local sources noted that three injuries were transferred to Nasser hospital while others were treated on the scene.
Violent clashes broke out on Thursday at Huwwara checkpoint south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus following angry protests in the city following the US’s decision.
The marches began from several areas in Nablus and headed towards Huwwara checkpoint with the participation of thousands who closed the Jerusalem Street by burning tires before clashing with the Israeli soldiers.
The IOF closed the checkpoint in front of the vehicles and diverted traffic to the Awarta checkpoint east of Nablus. A large number of soldiers were deployed at the checkpoint and a number of snipers were stationed on the nearby hill.
The soldiers fired rubber bullets sound bombs and teargas canisters which caused breathing problems among the participants who received medical aid on the scene. IOF vehicles sprayed demonstrators with sewage water to push them away from the checkpoint.
