117 Israeli settlers stormed on Tuesday morning Jerusalem’s holy al-Aqsa Mosque via the Maghareba Gate.
Israeli police troops escorted dozens of settlers as they defiled the plazas of al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.
Extremist settlers and students toured the site and performed sacrilegious rituals as soon as they caught sight of the Dome of the Rock.
At the same time the Israeli forces tightened grip on Muslim worshipers and seized their identity documents near the main entrances to the site.
On Monday Israeli police threatened to ban Palestinian guards from al-Aqsa in case they attempt to thwart the settler break-ins. Muslim guard Luay Abu Saad also received a 15-day ban from al-Aqsa.
