Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau Ismail Haneyya at dawn Monday phones the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his capacity as the current president of the Islamic summit. Haneyya acquainted Erdogan with the seriousness of the US intention to endorse Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
Haneyya’s office said in a statement that the Hamas leader asked Erdogan to call for an Islamic summit to discuss the US position regarding Occupied Jerusalem.
Haneyya said that the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel allows the latter to impose full control on and Judaize Jerusalem. It might be part of the US “deal of the century” which aims at liquidating the Palestinian Question he highlighted.
Erdogan for his part promised to take urgent action including calling for an Islamic summit and contacting the US President Donald Trump to urge him not to adopt such a decision and to acquaint him with the seriousness and consequences of such a move according to the statement.
