The Palestinian Authority (PA) minister of civil affairs Husein al-Sheikh on Thursday told Wafa that the Egyptian authorities decided to reopen Rafah crossing for three days in both directions starting Saturday.
The Egyptian authorities last week opened the crossing to allow some humanitarian cases to leave the Gaza Strip and those stranded in Egypt to return.
Early in November the PA government took over the administration of the Gaza crossings including Rafah Kerem Shalom and Beit Hanoun (Erez) in accordance with an Egypt-brokered reconciliation agreement signed between Fatah and Hamas.
Since the beginning of 2017 Rafah crossing has been open for 17 days only. The Egyptian authorities say that security concerns are behind the long shutdown.
The travel of nearly 30000 Palestinians including students patients and holders of residency papers in other countries has been suspended for a long time.
