The Egyptian authorities on Sunday opened Rafah crossing for the 2nd day in a row under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority government which took control of the crossing a few days ago for the first time since 2007.
Nearly 621 Palestinians were allowed to leave Gaza in 11 buses on Saturday via Rafah crossing and more people are expected to leave on Sunday with more facilities provided. About 20 passengers were sent back to Gaza after being denied access into Egypt for no apparent reasons.
The passengers who spent last night at the Palestinian terminal of Rafah crossing are due to leave Sunday morning after their travel was delayed at the end of the day while those stuck in the Egyptian side were allowed to return to Gaza in 24 buses starting from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday until Sunday morning.
The Palestinian Ministry of Interior on Saturday published a list containing the names of the passengers scheduled to travel on Sunday and announced that its competent authorities and security services have completed their preparations to facilitate and secure their travel.
Rafah crossing will remain open until Monday evening which will witness the departure of delegations from Palestinian factions in Gaza to Egypt to participate in a new round of reconciliation talks.
