An Egyptian source denied claims that the Palestinian Authority (PA) chaired by Mahmoud Abbas officially asked Egypt on November 15 to unblock Rafah border-crossing with Gaza.
Speaking on conditions of anonymity the Egyptian source told the ‘Palestine’ daily that the PA and Fatah have been manipulating the “Rafah card” to blackmail their political rivals ahead of the upcoming Cairo meeting slated to take place on November 21.
The same source added that the PA and Fatah pay no heed to the concerns and needs of the Palestinians blockaded in the Gaza enclave.
The anonymous speaker held the members of Fatah’s Central Committee Azzam al-Ahmad and Hussein al-Sheikh along with the PA Intelligence chief Majed Faraj responsible for meddling with Gazans’ feelings saying “peoples’ sufferings should never be turned into bargaining chips.”
