Calls on PA government to fulfill its pledges regarding Rafah crossing

Wednesday 15-November-2017

The National Movement to Break the Siege on Gaza on Wednesday asked the Palestinian Authority (PA) government to fulfill its promises to open Rafah crossing.

The Movement in a statement called for the immediate opening of Rafah crossing to alleviate the suffering of the Gazan people especially sick citizens seeking treatment outside Gaza students studying abroad and holders of residency papers in other countries.

The Movement criticized the PA government for not assuming its responsibilities toward the Gazan people which include opening Rafah crossing.

The statement stressed that cancer patients are the most affected by this procrastination highlighting the case of the Gazan citizen Sanaa al-Batta who was prevented by the Israeli occupation authorities from travelling to the West Bank for treatment and was waiting for Rafah crossing to be opened to undergo chemotherapy in Egypt but died on Tuesday.

The PA government’s premier Rami Hamdallah has revealed earlier that Rafah crossing will be operational starting 15th November but noted that this depends on the security situation in Egypt.
