A delegation from the Palestinian Authority (PA) government arrived on Wednesday in the Gaza Strip coming from the West Bank through Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.
Local sources reported that the Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Abu Amr headed that delegation that arrived in Gaza along with another delegation from the PA Ministry of Education composed of 14 members.
They pointed out that the visit conducted by the Ministry of Education’s delegation which is led by undersecretary Basri Saleh will last for one day only.
The government delegation will visit the alternative headquarters of the Council of Ministers to oversee the ongoing preparations in addition to the house of president Mahmoud Abbas to view the renovations being carried out there according to local sources.
The delegation will also pave the way for a scheduled visit by the PA ministers to the Gaza Strip within a few days.
The Council of Ministers announced during its weekly meeting in Ramallah on Tuesday that starting next week the Council’s meetings will be held periodically either in Gaza or the West Bank.
The Council decided to suspend the travel of ministers and heads of government bodies abroad except for urgent reasons and intensify the government presence in Gaza during the coming days.
