Birawi: New attempt by Freedom Flotilla to break Gaza siege next year

Saturday 30-September-2017

Zahir Birawi head of the International Committee to Break the Siege has said that the Freedom Flotilla Coalition constantly seeks to exert political and media pressures on the Israeli occupation state to force it to end its unjust blockade on the Gaza Strip.

In recent press remarks Birawi also a founding member of the coalition said that many anti-siege activities would be organized next year including a new attempt by the coalition to break Israel’s naval blockade on Gaza.

He added that the coalition has plans to send one ship or more to Gaza in 2018.

“The Freedom Flotilla Coalition is composed of a large number of civil society organizations that work in the field of political affairs and have solidarity with the Palestinian people” he said.

The anti-siege activist affirmed that the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and the International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza would make efforts to reactivate the international solidarity with the besieged Strip.

“Any ships to be dispatched will not be for relief purposes or financial support because we believe that this is the duty of international organizations involved in providing aid and development projects. We want to launch media and political campaigns that pressure the occupation state to assert the Palestinians’ right to a waterway that facilitates the movement of citizens and goods from and to the world” he underlined.
