Int’l Conference of Jerusalem kicks off in Istanbul

The International Conference of Jerusalem started on Saturday morning in the Turkish city of Istanbul under the theme “Jerusalem: Past Present and Future” with the participation of international activists and political figures from around the world.

Speakers at the conference which was organized by Medeniyet University al-Buraq society and Umraniye municipality in Istanbul called for pooling the efforts to protect Jerusalem and restore its central position on the Islamic world’s agenda and warned of the gravity of Israel’s Judaization projects that target its identity.

Head of al-Buraq Adam Hayat president of Medeniyet University Ahmet Kawas and mayor of Umraniye municipality Hasan Can delivered speeches at the opening session of the conference where they talked about the activities done by Turkish and international organizations to defend Jerusalem.

The attendees were also addressed by Sheikh Ikrima Sabri Grand Mufti of Jerusalem al-Bashir Jarallah head of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds in addition to officials from the Turkish government its ministry of religious affairs and academics.

The two-day conference which is considered the largest international event held for Jerusalem since the Aqsa Mosque events last July aims to highlight the issue of the holy city its history and the need to protect its Arab and Islamic identity.
