Thousands of settlement units to be approved in West Bank

Saturday 23-September-2017

The Israeli government later this week will consider approving the construction of thousands of new settlement units in the West Bank the Hebrew website Rotter reported on Saturday.

The website said that the construction plans were sent to the Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be examined adding that the plans include a scheme to build 30 settlement units in one of al-Khalil settlements.

Two kindergartens and a parking lot will be established based on the construction plan in al-Khalil that has received support from all members of the Israeli government coalition.

Spokesman for the Jewish community in al-Khalil Noam Arnon said that new lands will be annexed to the settlement noting that the caravans erected on them will be removed and permanent buildings will be established instead.

Members of the Israeli government coalition believe that Netanyahu will approve the plans “in fulfillment of the decision he took 20 years ago to boost the settlement activity in al-Khalil.”
