Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu has called for promoting settlement construction in every possible place in Jerusalem including in Givat Hamatos settlement which was established on annexed lands in Beit Safafa town.
Netanyahu made his remarks during his meeting last week with contractor Ilan Gordo following the opening of new roads in Gilo settlement according to the Hebrew newspaper Jerusalem on Thursday.
Netanyahu affirmed that he intensified his efforts to increase the construction of housing units and projects for Jewish settlers throughout the holy city but he stressed the need to do this gradually and silently to avoid pressures from the US and the European Union which oppose settlement construction on lands occupied in 1967.
There is already an Israeli major plan to build 2600 housing units mostly for Jewish settlers in Beit Safafa the newspaper affirmed.
