Israeli settlers attack Palestinian shepherds in Jordan Valley

A group of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian shepherds near Khirbat al-Hamma in the northern Jordan Valley and prevented them from herding their sheep in their own lands on Sunday according to Motaz Bsharat who is charge of the affairs of the northern Jordan Valley in Tubas city.

The Palestinian activist said in a statement that the Israeli settlers’ attacks in the Jordan Valley escalated in the recent days including chasing shepherds and assaulting them which led to killing and injuring many of their livestock.

Bsharat pointed out that Israeli settlers threaten the Palestinians in the region and tell they must leave claiming that these lands are “Israeli lands”. He added that such attacks occur under the very eyes of the Israeli forces who always take the settlers’ side.

Many international and humanitarian organizations believe that targeting the Palestinian families in the Jordan Valley either by demolitions evictions or other measures comes within an Israeli systematic policy that aims to pressure citizens to evacuate the region since it is considered a vital and strategic region on the military and agricultural levels.
