Wednesday 13-September-2017

The family of political detainee Asaad at-Tawil has accused the Palestinian Authority (PA) intelligence service of torturing its son in Jericho jail.

Tawil who was arrested with no guilt about a week ago was transferred recently to hospital after his health deteriorated as a result of his hunger strike and his exposure to physical abuse at the hands of intelligence officers according to a member of his family.

Islam the detainee’s brother stated that the PA intelligence apparatus prevents Tawil from seeing his family or meeting his lawyer or anyone from human rights groups.

He expressed his family concern about the health condition of Tawil and demanded his immediate release.

He described his brother’s detention as “politically motivated and malicious.”

Asaad at-Tawil a student at an-Najah University had been detained several times before by the PA security apparatuses.
