Tuesday 29-August-2017

Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas welcomed the visit paid by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to the besieged Gaza Strip and perceived the visit as a key indication of the important role of Gaza Strip in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In a press statement Tuesday evening the Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum called on Guterres to meet with the families of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails as well as the sick people in the blockaded coastal enclave who are unable to travel for treatment in addition to those families whose homes are demolished due to the Israeli siege and aggression on Gaza.

Hamas also asked Guterres to exert every possible effort in order to lift the siege and end the humanitarian suffering of over 2 million Palestinians living in the biggest prison in the world.

Hamas also asked the UN Secretary-General to pressure Israeli occupation authorities to halt their violations against Palestinians and their Islamic and Christian holy places.
