Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said on Saturday that the latest decision by Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu which allows members of the Israeli Knesset to visit al-Aqsa Mosque is an “extremist decision” and a “serious escalation”.
Hamas’s spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanou’ in a press statement described the decision as “provocative” adding that it is aimed at re-igniting the region.
Qanou’ held Israel responsible for the consequences of this decision and affirmed that the Palestinian people will continue to defend al-Aqsa Mosque against the Israeli break-ins into the site.
On Wednesday Netanyahu approved a decision allowing Israeli MKs to visit al-Aqsa Mosque starting next week.
According to Israeli media sources the decision allows MKs to enter al-Aqsa Mosque next Tuesday and if the visit passes smoothly new steps will be considered.
