Palestinian Prisoners Center for Studies revealed that the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) issued 170 administrative detention orders against Palestinian prisoners over the last month. Six Palestinian MPs were included in those administrative detention orders.
The center’s spokesman Riyad al-Ashqar opined that the big number seriously indicates the Israeli escalation of the usage of such illegal and arbitrary detention order which are normally issued based on no charges or trials. The number recorded an increase estimated at 300 per cent as compared to the previous month when 45 administrative detention orders were issued.
Ashqar also pointed out that the IOA issued last July 70 administrative detention orders for the first time while 100 orders were extensions to earlier terms ranging between 2 to 6 months.
