New corruption accusations threaten Netanyahu’s political life

Saturday 5-August-2017

New serious corruption accusations are haunting Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and could lead to an end to his political life and send him to jail as happened to his predecessor Ehud Olmert according to political observers.

Netanyahu is now accused of crimes involving fraud breach of trust and bribes in two corruption cases the Israeli police revealed last Thursday.

The police have been questioning Netanyahu for months over the cases but have released few details. A gag order was released on Thursday on reporting the details of the cases.

However the police said on Friday that Ari Harow Netanyahu’s former chief of staff and onetime close confidant agreed to testify against him.

The police added they reached a deal with Harow promising him a lighter court sentence over his involvement in a separate corruption case.

They said he would only do six months of community service and pay a fine of 700000 Shekels in exchange for his testimony against Netanyahu.
