Monday 24-July-2017

The spokeswoman of the Swedish organization “Ship to Gaza” Jeannette Escanilla said that the organization plans to send a ship to Gaza next year in order to break the decade-long Israeli siege.

Escanilla told Anadolu news agency that the Swedish organization launched on Sunday campaigns across the Swedish cities in order to collect donations for funding the campaign slated to sail with the 9-meter-long boat. It was named after the Northern Irish woman who won the Nobel Prize in 1975 Mairead Maguire.

Maguire was among female activists who exerted efforts to break the Gaza siege. She was detained by Israeli police in 2010 at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and was banned from entering 1948 Occupied Palestine Escanilla pointed out.
