OIC demands Israel to reverse latest measures at Aqsa

Monday 24-July-2017

Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday urged its member states to act urgently against the Israeli measures imposed on al-Aqsa Mosque.

This was voiced in a statement at the end of an OIC meeting held in Jeddah city in Saudi Arabia to discuss the unprecedented Israeli violations in Occupied Jerusalem.

The Organization condemned all the punitive measures recently imposed by Israel including closing al-Aqsa Mosque and installing metal detectors and surveillance cameras at its gates.

It denounced denying Muslim worshipers their right to the freedom of worship which is guaranteed by the international conventions adding that these measures threaten the status quo at the Mosque.

OIC said in its statement that Israel the occupying power has no sovereignty over Jerusalem and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city which is confirmed by all international resolutions and the latest UNESCO decision.

It praised the Palestinian people in Jerusalem for the heroic role they are playing in defending al-Aqsa Mosque calling on its member states to support them financially and economically.

The Organization demanded Israel to reverse all the “illegal” measures taken against the holy city holding it responsible for the consequences of the escalation there.
