Turkish premier Ben Ali Yildirim has condemned Israel for installing security gates at the Aqsa Mosque and called for removing them immediately.
In brief press remarks following his participation in the Friday prayer in Ankara premier Yildirim warned that Israel’s new security measures at the Aqsa Mosque would inflame tensions in the region describing the gates as “harmful to the atmosphere of tolerance between civilizations and religions.”
The Turkish premier affirmed that “the Islamic world is very sensitive towards the Aqsa Mosque.”
“We say to Israel that such measures are wrong. Taking steps under the pretext of combating terrorism closing the Aqsa Mosque to Muslims and obstructing their entry to it will never help solve any problem. On the contrary this will lead to growing tension in the region” he said.
He also expressed hope that the situation in Jerusalem would get back to normal soon.
