Bahar slams Abbas’s recent measures against Gaza

Ahmed Bahar the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) has strongly denounced Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas for taking measures that aggravated recently the inhumane blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Bahar said that Abbas’s recent measures that deprived Gaza of its power needs medical referrals for its patients and salaries for its prisoners in Israeli jails “overstepped all the red lines and all the legal and moral norms.”

Bahar made his remarks during a news conference held on Thursday in Gaza to mark the 10th founding anniversary of al-Ahrar Movement a Palestinian resistance faction that emerged in 2007.

In his speech the Palestinian lawmaker expressed the PLC’s rejection of Abbas’s attempts to separate Gaza from the rest of Palestine through tightening the siege imposed on its population.

He accused Abbas and his Fatah Movement of trying “to present their credentials to US president Donald Trump through waiving the national constants and rights and selling illusions to the Palestinian people.”

He pointed out that the PLC had enacted laws that protect the resistance support the prisoners and the families of martyrs and prohibit any step to relinquish Jerusalem.

For his part secretary-general of al-Ahrar Movement Khaled Abu Hilal lashed out at Abbas describing his latest measures against Gaza as “a new stage of conspiracy against the Palestinian people.”

Abu Hilal also held Abbas fully responsible for the consequences of his actions against his own people.
