Hamas praises efforts by European institutions to lift Gaza siege

Monday 3-July-2017

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas praised on Monday the efforts exerted by Palestinian institutions operating in Europe to lift the unjust Israeli siege imposed on Gaza for more than 10 years.

Spokesman of the Movement Fawzi Barhoum appreciated in a statement the institutions’ support for the legitimate humanitarian demands of about 2 million Palestinians living in the open-air prison of the Gaza Strip.

Barhoum called on all human rights organizations to stand for the Palestinians and the besieged Gazans and to work urgently to end this injustice and suffering.

Hamas’s statements came after dozens of Palestinian institutions working in Europe strongly condemned denying sick children in the Gaza Strip their right to travel for treatment by the Israeli occupation.

In a petition on Friday the institutions held Israel fully responsible for the lives of the Gazan patients stressing that depriving them of treatment is a crime against humanity.

In the same context about 1000 Palestinian politicians academics unionists and activists in various European countries signed on Monday a petition submitted to the Palestine Liberation Organization calling for an immediate end to the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.

They affirmed that the Israeli occupation bears full responsibility for the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza and denounced at the same time the latest “arbitrary” measures waged by the Palestinian Authority against the Gazan citizens.
