PA security forces stormed at dawn Saturday an area in Ramallah city where ex-detainees have been staging a sit-in for days to demand the government of Rami al-Hamdallah to backtrack on its decision to cut off their salaries.
Local sources said that officers from the PA intelligence and preventive security apparatuses stormed the area where the cabinet headquarters is located and demanded the protesters to remove their sit-in tent and leave.
One of the protesters said that the officers claimed that their presence in the area was an uncivilized scene adding that they refused to remove the tent and end their sit-in before redressing their issue.
Several ex-detainees have been rallying outside the cabinet headquarters in Ramallah for six days in protest at the PA’s decision to cut off the salaries of 277 prisoners and ex-detainees.
They are determined to continue their sit-in during Eid al-Fitr holiday and hold the Eid prayer outside their tent.
