Red Cross: 19 Gazans still missing after Israel’s last war

Sunday 11-June-2017

The Gaza office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has said that 19 Palestinians are still missing following the 2014 Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

According to ICRC spokeswoman Suhair Zaqqout the ICRC has been making efforts to determine the fate of the 19 Gazans lost during the offensive.

“As a neutral body” she explained “we have asked the Israeli authorities to help in identifying the lost Palestinians for the sake of their families.” However Zaqqout noted that the organization has not received any response from Israel.

“Intentional blocking of information about any person lost in any armed conflict is a violation of international humanitarian law” she affirmed.

More than 2000 were killed in Israel’s 2014 war on Gaza including 530 children and 302 women.

Over 11000 others were also injured and tens of thousands of homes were destroyed during the war.
