Israeli war minister Avigdor Lieberman has admitted that the Hamas Movement is holding four Israelis captive in the Gaza Strip and called for enabling the Red Cross to visit them.
Lieberman threatened that there would be no easements in the flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip until Hamas furnished evidence regarding the conditions of Israelis in its captivity.
“There are two soldiers and two civilians in Hamas captivity … Until we receive the elementary right that at least the Red Cross will visit the prisoners there will be no change in the situation in Gaza” the war minister said during a question session at the Knesset on Monday
He also slammed international human rights groups for making no effort to contact the Israelis being held by Hamas.
For its part Hamas described Lieberman’s talk as useless affirming that it would not provide any information about the captives unless Israel set free all the Palestinians rejailed following their release as part of the 2011 prisoner swap deal.
