In defiance of Israeli crackdowns thousands flock to Aqsa Mosque

Friday 2-June-2017

Thousands of Muslim worshipers from across the occupied Palestinian territories have flocked to holy al-Aqsa Mosque since the crack of dawn to perform the first Friday prayer in the holy month of Ramadan.

The Israeli police announced its intent to intensify presence around Occupied Jerusalem and the main access roads to the Old City and al-Aqsa Mosque in an attempt to rein in the influx of the Muslim worshipers to the site to perform Friday’s noon prayers.

The occupation authorities ruled that no more than 100 worshipers from the blockaded Gaza Strip aged above 55-year-old be allowed access into al-Aqsa Mosque every Friday.

Muslim worshipers in the blockaded Gaza Strip have been permanently banned from praying at the site under counterfeit pretexts including claims that some worshipers do not return on time.
