The Jordanian government strongly condemned the renewed incursions conducted by extremist Jews on Wednesday morning into the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque in violation of the sanctity of the place and in disregard of the feelings of Muslims around the world.
Mohammed al-Momani the Jordanian government spokesman and minister of media affairs said that his government holds Israel responsible for inciting hundreds of settlers to conduct such incursions and warmed of the consequences of these hostilities and the Israeli disregard of the international laws and the peace agreement signed with Jordan.
Momani confirmed Jordan’s firm position in preserving the status quo at al-Aqsa Mosque and rejecting any attempt to change its historical status adding that al-Aqsa is a place of worship for Muslims only.
He affirmed that Jordan employs all its legal and diplomatic efforts to protect the Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem the Awqaf employees and the worshipers in al-Aqsa Mosque.
