Gaza: Health services decline due to medicinal crisis

Wednesday 24-May-2017

The Palestinian ministry of health has said that the health services in its hospitals and clinics in the Gaza Strip have deteriorated greatly as a consequence of the Palestinian Authority’s recent decision to stop providing the impoverished enclave with medical supplies.

In a news conference held in Gaza City director of the ministry’s pharmacy department Munir al-Barsh warned that the health situation in Gaza reached a critical stage after 270 types of medical needs including consumables became out of stock.

170 types of medicines have also started to run out according to him.

A serious shortage of medicines has developed in recent days because the last shipment of drugs arrived in Gaza three months ago. Such shipments are usually made every two months.
