Saturday 16-August-2008

RAMALLAH (PIC)– The PA security apparatuses in the West Bank raided at dawn Saturday two charitable societies concerned with childhood and motherhood in Tulkarem city and completely looted their contents.

Palestinian local sources reported that PA security elements stormed the headquarters of the mother and child care society in central Tulkarem and took all its furniture and food supplies allocated for orphans.

A female charity worker said that the society serves the community through providing food and financial aid for poor families and orphans and other services related to motherhood and childhood adding that the society also provides cultural and recreational services.

A similar raid was carried out on the same day by PA security elements against the humanitarian relief society in the city. The society is known for supporting orphans and poor families.

The PA security apparatuses had stormed Friday evening a student hostel in the Khaduri University in the city and confiscated students’ personal belongings. They also confiscated the contents of the medical relief society.

During the past 24 hours the PA security apparatuses kidnapped about eight Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas in the cities of Tulkarem Jenin Salfit Khalil and Ramallah. There are still more than 100 political prisoners in PA jails in the West Bank most of them are affiliated with Hamas.

For its part the Hamas Movement in the West Bank issued a statement castigating Abbas’s security practices against kidnapped Hamas cadres and supporters.
It noted that one of those kidnapped Marwan Al-Khalili suffered a brain stroke under torture while another Amer Hamoda was carried to Ramallah hospital without divulging seriousness of his condition.
Hamas said that it was surprised at the “silence” of the human rights organizations toward those “crimes” and added that those kidnapping and torturing citizens should stand trial.
