Israeli settlers and Antiquity Authority staff members escorted by police troops stormed on Wednesday morning the al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.
Israeli policemen unlocked the Maghareba Gate at 07:30 paving the way for the morning break-in shift and closed it at 11:00 a.m.
Speaking with PIC Jerusalemite sources said 39 Israeli settlers and four members of the Israeli Antiquity Authority defiled the site.
The Israeli police also seized the IDs of the Muslim worshipers while they allowed 533 non-Muslim visitors to defile the Mosque.
Over 1200 Israeli settlers broke into the site during the seven-day Jewish Passover holiday sparking tension across Occupied Jerusalem.
