End of Clashes in Ain al-Hilweh camp

The clashes that erupted in Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Sidon city southern Lebanon for five days came to a halt at dawn Tuesday the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported.

8 Palestinians were killed and dozens were injured in the clashes which broke out between the Palestinian joint security force led by Fatah Movement and the so-called Bilal Bader group.

The NNA reported that the clashes stopped after Bilal Bader and his gunmen fled from the camp’s al-Tira neighborhood as they found themselves trapped. The Palestinian security forces were deployed all around the neighborhood.

It pointed out that serious damages were inflicted on homes shops and vehicles while dozens of families fled the camp.

The clashes violently intensified on Monday evening until dawn on Tuesday between the Palestinian security force and the Bilal Bader extremist group. Rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns were used in the clashes.

The clashes paralyzed the daily life of the camp and Sidon city where schools institutes and universities were closed.

Bilal Bader is accused by the Lebanese authorities of being involved in crimes as well as harboring a number of wanted Palestinians and Lebanese.
