Tamimi family thanks Jordan for refusing US request to extradite Ahlam

Monday 20-March-2017

The family of ex-prisoner Ahlam al-Tamimi thanked on Monday Jordan’s Court of Cassation for rejecting the request made by the US authorities to extradite their daughter Ahlam. They called the decision fair and just.

The family called on King Abdullah II of Jordan along with his government to provide protection and stability for their daughter and her husband Nizar as two ex-detainees in Israeli jails.

In a statement on Monday the family hailed the Jordanian civil community individuals and institution in addition to the media MPs authorities and solidarity activists. The family affirmed that they are going to follow up the case legally in the US until the lawsuit is dropped.

The US Justice Department on Tuesday asked the government of Jordan to extradite female journalist Ahlam al-Tamimi 37 on account of her involvement in the anti-occupation attack on a Sbarro Pizzeria in Occupied Jerusalem which led to the death of two American nationals.

Tamimi served eight years in prison out of her 16 life sentence before being released in an Israel-Hamas prisoner swap deal in 2011.
