Jerusalemites challenge Adhan ban bill by building the highest minaret

Palestinians in al-Isawiya town in Occupied Jerusalem constructed al-Arba’een Mosque minaret as the highest minaret in the city in challenge to the Israeli Adhan ban bill.

The people of the town along with religious figures in addition to civil defense scout and security teams participated in setting up the minaret crescent in a process that took seven hours. Jerusalemite youths wore t-shirts with written slogans such as “Minarets will not be silenced No to Adhan ban bill”.

Yousef Ebaid official of the society that supervised the minaret construction told the PIC that the minaret’s height is 72 meters while its crescent is 15 meters high. It was built by donations of the people of the town so that they can hear the Adhan loudly and clearly he highlighted.

Ebaid pointed out that the minaret construction cost one million to one million and two hundred thousand shekels. It challenges the Israeli Adhan ban bill in eastern neighborhoods of Occupied Jerusalem and 1948 Occupied Palestine he said.

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri head of the Higher Islamic Council in Jerusalem for his part thanked the people of al-Issawiya town for the establishment of the minaret which took a year to be accomplished.

Al-Issawiya town which has a population of 18000 Palestinians is considered as the most targeted outskirt of Occupied Jerusalem by Israeli home-demolition for allegedly lacking construction permits.
