Preacher of al-Aqsa Mosque Mohmmad Salim called for national unity in light of the Israeli offensive practices against Palestinians. He stressed the importance to adhere to unity as well as Palestinian historical and religious constants.
In his Friday sermon Sheikh Salim said the Adhan (call for prayer) is an Islamic ritual that cannot be silenced. He affirmed the refusal of any interference in the educational curricula at schools of Occupied Jerusalem as well as the affairs of al-Aqsa Mosque and the Jerusalemite people.
Salim also condemned banning the endowment department from implementing renovation and maintenance works at al-Aqsa Mosque. He called on Arabs and Muslims to exert serious efforts to halt the Israeli violations at the Muslims’ holy site.
Thousands of Palestinians performed Friday prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque. Meanwhile Israeli police were deployed at the gates of the holy place; they checked worshipers’ IDs and blocked traffic the PIC reporter said.
