The Forum of Palestinian Journalists (FPJ) has strongly denounced a group of Arab bloggers and journalists from North Africa for visiting the occupied Palestinian territories and meeting with Israeli officials.
In a press release on Thursday the forum expressed its shock and dismay that journalists from Arab Maghreb states made such a visit instead of joining the active international boycott campaign against Israel.
“This ill-fated visit is like a stab in the back of our steadfast people and a new link in the chain of opprobrious normalization” the FPJ stated affirming that the participants violated the Arab norms and positions against the occupation.
“The visit came at a time the occupation is escalating its violations against the Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem and persists in its blockade on Gaza” it added.
The FPJ has called on all journalist syndicates and unions in Morocco Tunisia and Algeria to condemn the visit and hold the participants accountable pursuant to the relevant resolutions of the Federation of Arab Journalists.
It also demanded the participants in the visit to apologize to the Palestinian people and their journalists.
This visit was the sixth of its kind. Israel’s foreign ministry had previously managed to bring several Arab delegations from Maghreb states to visit the occupied territories as part of its campaign to change Israel’s image in the Arab media.
