US President Donald Trump’s special representative Jason Greenblatt is scheduled to meet Thursday with Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu to agree on understandings regarding settlement construction and the peace process.
According to the Hebrew radio Greenblatt intends to brief Netanyahu on the results of his meetings with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and King Abdullah II of Jordan.
The US envoy last Monday met with Netanyahu before he sat with Abbas the following day to explore their own positions on settlement activities and the peace process.
In this regard Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh al-Maliki stated in recent press remarks that it would be premature to talk about resuming the peace talks with the Israelis.
However he described Greenblatt’s visit to Palestine as “a reflection of the US administration’s seriousness on reviving the peace talks between Ramallah and Tel Aviv.”
