Female MP among several Palestinians kidnapped by Israeli forces

Thursday 9-March-2017

Several Palestinians including an MP were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in mass abduction sweeps launched at daybreak Thursday.

Palestinian MP Samira al-Halayka (Hamas) was kidnapped by the IOF from her home in al-Shouyoukh town.

According to a PIC correspondent MP al-Halayka was handcuffed and blindfolded by the Israeli soldiers.

The IOF also seized her laptop and mobile phone before they dragged her to an unidentified destination.

Al-Halayka’s arrest brings the number of Palestinian MP in Israeli jails to 10.

Meanwhile an Israeli undercover unit escorted by dozens of soldiers broke into the home of the wanted Palestinian youth Mahdi Mer’i in Tulkarem’s northern town of Balaa and ravaged the family home in the hunt for Mer’i.

One day earlier the IOF arrested Mer’i’s father and brothers in an attempt to force him to turn himself in.

The campaign culminated in the abduction of three Palestinians from Tulkarem.

Ex-prisoners Jihad Nashata and Assef Teim were also kidnapped by the Israeli troops from their homes in Nablus’s southern town of Qablan.

Another Palestinian youth—Suleima Aweis—was kidnapped from his home in al-Laban town south of Nablus.

At the same time the Israeli troops arrested two Palestinians in Qalqilya and another near a military checkpoint in Jit village.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers stormed Rafat town in Salfit and kidnapped Emad Ayash after they rummaged into his family home.

Ex-prisoners Ahmed Mteir and Mahmoud al-Lawzi were further kidnapped by the Israeli forces from Qalandiya refugee camp north of Occupied Jerusalem. Two other youths were arrested in Jerusalem’s towns of Qatna and al-Ram.
