13 buses allowed to pass through Rafah crossing

Tuesday 7-March-2017

The Egyptian authorities on Tuesday evening locked the Rafah border crossing with Gaza after they opened it in the morning as part of an exceptional three-day opening.

A PIC reporter quoted the media department at Rafah crossing as stating that 13 buses and seven ambulances were allowed access out of the crossing on the second day of the exceptional opening program.

The seven ambulances were reportedly carrying sick civilians and their travel companions. Other buses carrying stranded passengers arrived in Gaza from Egypt.

Egypt announced a three-day exceptional opening of Rafah from Monday to Wednesday before humanitarian cases.

Thousands of Gazans are in dire need of crossing into Egypt en route to other countries for various reasons topped by medical treatment family reunion and university studies.
