Preparatory meetings for Palestinians Abroad conference

Friday 24-February-2017

Sub-committees of the Popular Conference for the Palestinians Abroad which is to kick off on Saturday started preparatory meetings in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Friday.

The official spokesman of the conference Ziyad al-Aloul told Quds Press that preparation works began on Thursday evening as a group of members of the initiative convened and discussed the theme and objectives of the Conference.

Aloul said that they addressed issues like the ineffectiveness of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the marginalization of the role of Palestinians in diaspora in addition to the mechanism for activating their role for the interest of the Palestinian Question.

Quds Press quoted national figures politicians and intellectuals who are participating in the conference as underlining that the conference does not aim at replacing or competing with the PLO. It rather explores ways and methods for the support of Palestinian resistance inside occupied Palestinian territories.

Hundreds of Palestinians started to flock to Istanbul city in order to take part in the two-day conference slated to kick off on Saturday February 25 and which was initiated by 70 Palestinian national figures.
